October Favorites: Music Edition

Hey guys, I actually have something music-related to write about!
I thought it'd be cool to do an October favorites, but instead of reviewing things I've bought I'm going to talk about bands I've been listening to this past October and then link you to my top 10 favorite songs, so let's get started!

Firstly I'd like to say that my taste in music is really broad. I listen to anything from pop to video game music to death metal. I always try to stay open minded about music and give every genre/band a fair opinion.
So the first band I want to talk about is Soundgarden.
Soundgarden is an American rock band from Seattle. You've probably heard of their vocalist, Chris Cornell, who was also in Audioslave and Temple of the Dog. Soundgarden is an old favorite of mine, I've been listening to them for years. My favorite album from them is Down on the Upside.

The next band I want to cover is Megadeth. They're a metal band from Los Angeles, California. They were formed by their lead guitarist and vocalist, Dave Mustaine. Like Soundgarden, I've been listening to them for quite a while. I think the first song I heard from them was Sweating Bullets. Megadeth is a great band to listen to in October, since they have lots of creepy, dark songs. My favorite record is Countdown to Extinction.

This next band is actually a new favorite of mine, and they are Panic! At the Disco. These guys formed in Las Vegas. They're mainly a rock band, but have some beautiful mellow stuff too. I also really love their costumes in their music videos. From what I've heard of them, so far my favorite album is Pretty. Odd.

So now I'm going to give you the list of my top 10 listens throughout October. Clicking on them will link you to a YouTube video where you can listen to them!

10. Knights of Cydonia - Muse
9. Octavarium - Dream Theater
8. Ghost of You - My Chemical Romance
7. Chasm - Flyleaf
6. Trust - Megadeth
5. Blow Up the Outside World - Soundgarden
4. Symphony of Destruction - Megadeth
3. Misery Business - Paramore
2. Climbing Up the Walls - Radiohead
1. Girls/Girls/Boys - Panic! At the Disco

That's all for today!

Grunge Photo Shoot!

Hey!
So for a while now I've been wanting to do a photo shoot. Selfies are great for Instagram and quick outfit-of-the-days, but I'd never really taken any proper, quality photos. So I dug out a tripod and our Nikon D3000 and got to work. It actually wasn't as complicated as I thought I actually had a lot of fun! Here's the result of my grungy photo shoot, enjoy!

I added the B&W filter in with Photoshop Elements

FYI gray tee is from Kohl's and jeans are from Wet Seal

It was actually raining when I took these last few photos. So grunge!

When making this one my Facebook profile picture I thought it was a bit colorful for a grunge photo, so I lowered the contrast using Photoshop (this is the original)
You may or may not have noticed that in all of these pictures I'm modeling flannel shirts. I was originally going to make this post about "How to Wear Flannel" but then I realized that I don't really wear flannel shirts that many different ways. I get all of my flannels from Goodwill and Salvation Army, by the way.

Delaware helped with the shoot too, thanks buddy!

So that's all for today, hope you liked the pics! I took a bunch more but I decided just to put the best six in this post, didn't want to bore ya. ;)
Later grungers!

Maltose

Hello my lovelies,
So I have an exciting thing to share!
My band Maltose released our first single, Barnyard Requirements!! (I wrote the lead line and the keys solo!!) And since we're awesome we put it up on YouTube so you can listen to it for free! ;)

Hope you like our song, and if you do please spread the word and share it with your homies!
So yeah while you're listening to our rad tune here's a little insight on our band:
Our lead guitarist and vocalist is Zach Schwartz (my brother). He handles the technical end of things as well, setting up our recording equipment and mixing our tracks.
Phoenix Spinozzi is our drummer, he designed the album cover for our EP-in-progress, The Banana Massacre, and he also runs our YouTube channel and Soundcloud.
And then there's me. I play bass and keys and manage our Facebook page.
So that's all for now, if you have any questions about our equipment, music style, or want to hear more of us, you can leave a comment below. Thanks!

Rock on,
~Libby~
